December 21st, 2010 – Nowt as Cold as Steel
Continuing the icy theme, I took this at the same time as yesterday’s photo.
These two photos are my first foray into shallow depth-of-field HDR – I’d love to know what you think about them.

Ice crystals on top of my car this morning, taken whilst waiting for it to warm up from a bracing -12 degrees Celsius.
Today’s photo was taken on the walk from the station to work this morning.
I’ve just got home from my work’s Christmas party – don’t think I should write any more for fear of embarrassment…
I came across this lovely classic Morris Minor just outside the picturesque hilltop village of Rhiw on the Lleyn Peninsula on the way to do a spot of bouldering. Personally I think the subtle HDR effect really makes this photo, I hope you agree!
I spotted this beautiful caterpillar whilst bouldering at Almscliff during the summer. A little research suggests that this is most likely a Painted Lady caterpillar (Cynthia Cardui), a remarkable species which migrates from the UK to North Africa every Autumn!
Thanks to UK Safari for the excellent information.
This fantastic rock formation can be found amongst Brimham Rocks, Yorkshire. Taken during my first visit to this magical place, I’m looking forward to returning to explore further.
Understandably, climbing on this is no longer allowed! Amongst the surrounding edges and boulders some fantastic climbs can be found, which do not receive the attention they deserve…
